What is a Chevening Scholarship?
Funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development, and partner organization, Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals with outstanding leadership potential and a strong academic background. This scholarship offers full financial support to undertake an eligible master’s degree at any UK university. Recipients of this scholarship will also gain a variety of exclusive academic, professional and cultural experiences.
Since the program was created in 1983, more than 50,000 brilliant professionals have had the opportunity to study in the UK through Chevening scholarships. In the 2023–24 academic year, there are more than 1,500 scholarships on offer globally, demonstrating the UK’s ongoing commitment to developing future leaders.
How does it work?
All applicants undergo a rigorous selection process. The most eligible applicants are handpicked by British embassies and high commissions around the world.
As a fully funded scholarship, you will receive tuition or program fees, living expenses and return flights to the UK. You’ll get access to exclusive networking events, workshops, discussions, internships and volunteer opportunities, giving you a diverse introduction to life on a global level.

How to register
You can apply for the Chevening Scholarship by selecting your country from the list provided at www.chevening.org/apply. Submitted applications will be assessed based on Chevening’s eligibility criteria. Applications deemed eligible will be assessed by an independent committee, which will create a shortlist of applicants.
If you are on the list, you will be invited to send references and attend an interview with the British embassy or high commission in the country where you are applying. This face-to-face interview is conducted in English by panellists who will ask questions about your personal and professional goals, and how the Chevening Scholarship will help you achieve them. Your choice of study program will also be considered. Panelists will assess your interview against global Chevening criteria.
